The Written Legacy Foundation

About

Every story deserves the opportunity to be written, developed, protected, and heard.

Mission

The Written Legacy Foundation empowers aspiring and emerging writers through literacy education, writing mentorship, authentic storytelling, manuscript development, responsible AI literacy, and access to trustworthy publishing resources. We create supportive spaces where people can discover their voices, turn lived experience and ideas into meaningful written works, and gain the knowledge and confidence to move from first word to finished manuscript.

Vision

We envision communities where people of every generation know their stories have value, and have equal access to the education, mentorship, technology, and publishing knowledge needed to preserve those stories and create lasting written legacies.

Our story

It began with a question: "So You Want to Be an Author?"

Years ago, we asked our community a simple question: "So You Want to Be an Author?" That question opened the door for published authors, aspiring writers, readers, and community members to sit together, share resources, talk honestly about the writing and publishing process, and remind one another that stories matter.

Today, that work is becoming something larger: The Written Legacy Foundation. We exist to help people discover their voices, develop their stories, strengthen their writing, understand their publishing options, and use today's tools, including artificial intelligence, without losing the authenticity that makes their story their own.

From the first idea to the first chapter, from manuscript development to publishing education, from reflective writing to the first book launch, our goal is to make the journey less lonely and more informed. Literacy creates possibility, writing creates connection and reflection, and a story preserved in words can become a legacy for generations.

Participants learn the process so they can make informed, independent decisions.

Integrity

Ethical authorship, fact-checking, intellectual property, honest publishing choices, and responsible AI use.

Community

Authors, writers, readers, educators, and partners strengthen one another.

Founder message

I have seen what happens when someone who has carried a story for years finally begins to write it. The first step is rarely about perfect grammar or knowing the publishing industry. It is about believing that what you have lived, learned, imagined, survived, discovered, or been called to share is worthy of being placed on the page.

After helping more than 30 aspiring authors work toward their first books and creating spaces where authors could share resources with the community, I realized the greatest need was not simply another publishing company. People need a trusted starting place. They need education, structure, encouragement, accountability, honest information, and someone to help them understand the next step without taking ownership of their story away from them.

The Written Legacy Foundation is being created to be that place. We will honor the human voice while teaching writers how to use modern tools responsibly. We will connect generations through stories, help new writers build confidence, create pathways to publishing knowledge, and remind people that legacy is not only what we leave behind. It is also what we choose to preserve while we are here.

Why it matters now

Where literacy and technology literacy meet.

Generative AI gives writers powerful tools, and new risks. Without education, writers may lean too hard on generated language, expose private information, accept made-up facts, or end up with writing that no longer sounds like them. The Foundation is a trusted place where literacy and technology literacy meet.
